Dr Rakesh Sharma is a consultant cardiologist at Royal Brompton Hospital and Cardiology Lead for Cardiac Sarcoidosis.

He qualified in 1995 with triple honours from Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospital Medical School (now part of King’s College London) and was Proxime Accesit to the University of London Gold Medal. He underwent postgraduate training at tertiary centres in London.

Dr Sharma was awarded a British Heart Foundation fellowship to study his PhD in cardiology at the National Heart and Lung Institute, Imperial College London. For his research, he won the Young Investigator Prize at the American Heart Association.

Professor Athol Wells is a consultant in respiratory medicine at Royal Brompton Hospital and highly regarded as the lead professor for sarcoidosis the UK. He is also the principal editor or co-editor of three books including Sarcoidosis (CRC Press, 2012).

Professor Anand Devaraj is a consultant thoracic radiologist at Royal Brompton Hospital and Professor of Practice in thoracic radiology at the National Heart and Lung Institute, Imperial College, London. Professor Devaraj has contributed to more than 100 peer-reviewed publications and book chapters in the field of thoracic imaging and is also a thoracic advisory editor for the journal European Radiology.

Professor Andrew Nicholson is a consultant histopathologist specialising in thoracic pathology, and an honorary professor of respiratory pathology at the National Heart and Lung Institute, Imperial College London. He has particular expertise in thoracic pathology (lung and mediastinum) and conducts research into lung cancer and interstitial lung disease in particular.

Professor Sujal Desai is a consultant radiologist with an expertise in thoracic imaging, and a Professor of practice in Thoracic imaging at Imperial College, London.

Dr Hart is the lead clinician for the Hull Interstitial Lung Disease and Sarcoidosis services. His research interests include the biology of pulmonary fibrosis, interstitial lung diseases, as well as sarcoidosis. He was the lead researcher for both the SarcoidosisUK Research Project 2015 into monocytes and the SarcoidosisUK Research Project 2018 into mTOR.

Dr Kidd is the top neurosarcoidosis specialist in the UK and a world-expert on the condition. He established the Centre for Neurosarcoidosis at the Royal Free, North London and receives referrals from all over the country for diagnosis, treatment and research. Dr Kidd contributed to the SarcoidosisUK Patient Information Leaflet –Sarcoidosis and the Nervous System and spoke at the SarcoidosisUK Neurosarcoidosis Specialist Patient Days in 2019, 2020 and 2021.

Dr Price is a consultant respiratory physician at Royal Brompton & Harefield NHS Foundation Trust and an honorary clinical senior lecturer at the National Heart and lung Institute (NHLI) at Imperial College, London. She is an integral member of the National Pulmonary Hypertension Service at Royal Brompton Hospital, consulting with patients who have this condition and other pulmonary vascular diseases.
