Lockdown doesn’t have to mean that fundraising stops – in fact, we need your support now more than ever.
We’ve put together a selection of our top fundraising ideas which you can do from the comfort of your own home – from virtual quiz nights to sports challenges and online auctions, there’s something for everyone. Take a look at the different options below, or sign up for one of our virtual events.
The past year has proved just how important it is to stay connected with family, friends or colleagues – and by this point we’ve all become familiar with the likes of Zoom, Google Hangouts, Skype and FaceTime. Why not use one of these platforms to hold a virtual quiz, and set up a JustGiving page where guests can donate to take part!
Lockdown has turned many of us into kitchen connoisseurs, so now is the time to whip out your chefs hat and host a virtual bake off! Post pictures and videos of your baked goods and get family, friends or colleagues to do the same, then swap recipes and vote for a winner! You can charge a small donation by using a JustGiving page and donate the funds to SarcoidosisUK.
Take part in a step challenge using a step counting app such as Strava (which allows you to create a virtual club and leaderboard). Ask for a donation fee to enter and award extra points for the most creative way to get to 10,000 steps in your house, garden, or balcony! This is also a great way to stay fit and active while working from home.
Declutter and Donate
With charity shops closed, now is the time to start clearing out those cupboards and start raising funds. Virgin Money Giving have partnered with Ziffit, a free online service, to sell unwanted books, CDs, DVDs, Blu-rays and games, whose value can be donated directly to your fundraising page. #DeclutterAndDonate by following these easy steps.
Other ways to fundraise from home:
Have a day of fundraising challenges; ask friends and family to pay-per-challenge as they watch you complete them on social media. Challenges could include; 100 press ups, a head shaving/ leg waxing moment, a sponsored sing/ danceathon etc.
Donate the cost of your commute
Many of us are finding that we are working from home or cancelling activities outside of the house. This may mean that you find that you are saving money on travel or other expenses. If you can, donate those savings to SarcoidosisUK and set up a JustGiving page asking others to do the same.
Create a sweepstake
You can create a sweepstake for just about anything, from predicting your finish time in a race to guessing how many sweets there are in a jar, even guessing the results for a sports match – the choice is yours. Charge a set fee for entering the sweepstake, the whoever guesses correctly wins a prize and then donate the rest of the money raised to SarcoidosisUK!
